AUTOGRAPH PARALLEL
CLICK ON THE CARDS BELOW FOR A SUPER-SIZED VIEW
Released in October 2001, this series was one of the first by the major brands to focus on past legends of the NHL. Autographs were seeded 1 per 12 packs in hobby boxes, and 1 per 120 packs in retail boxes. The autograph set roughly parallels the non-autographed 89 card base set. There are 87 autographs in total. Tim Horton, Terry Sawchuk and Gump Worsley didn't sign cards. (The first two, being dead, had a good excuse for not signing. I don't know the reason why Worsley didn't particpate.) Added to the autograph mix was Rod Langway, who didn't appear in the unsigned base set. According to the 2012 Beckett Hockey Card Price Guide (21st Edition), most players signed between 400 to 475 cards each. Players confirmed with short-print cards (noted below with an "*" next to the player's name) signed less than 200 copies each.
SET STATUS: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! (100 Percent Complete) After getting about halfway to completion a few years back, I more-or-less abandoned efforts to build this set as I concentrated on pursuing other projects. In February 2013 I reignited my efforts and in the span of a year brought this release within 16 cards of completion. That last group of cards were acquired through a bulk purchase made March 2014, and it is my great pleasure to share with you the first set completed since the launch of this website.
